The Gāyatrī Mantra, also known as the Sāvitar Mantra, is a highly revered mantra from the Rig Veda dedicated to Savitr, the sun deity. Gāyatrī is not the name of the mantra as such; it is the name of the Vedic meter in which the verse is composed. Vishvamitra is said to have created the Gayatri mantra.
This is one of the first mantras we are introduced to as children. This is also one of the most powerful and significant mantras in Hinduism. Chanting the Gayatri mantra purifies the spirit of the chanter and also those who are in the vicinity; they are also benefited by the positive vibrations of the gayatri mantra. Gayatri mantra can be recited by anyone, anytime & anywhere ... let there be no misconceptions in your mind regarding this.
