Presenting the Limited Edition Rekha sari with Rekha as Vasantasena in Utsav (1984)based on Śūdraka’s Mricchakatika. Completely handmade & handpainted; each piece is handcrafted by a bunch of talented artists with a lot of love for the art & crafts
The “Rekha” sari has the sensuous Rekha as Vasantasena on the golden Pallu hand painted & then embroidered with select Jewellery to give that 3D effect The interplay of Black, Steel & Gold in the sari adds to the oomph.
We wanted only the best sari as a base for this work of art & so we have handpicked the sari from the extremely talented Meraki By Sindhu’s #specialedition of #steelandgold series of Patur silk cotton saris.
These sarees are silk cotton sarees from a lesser known village Patur in Andhra , Nellore district . The sarees are woven with cotton warp and pure silk weft . The cotton yarns are locally produced and dyed and the silk comes from Bangalore . The weavers of Patur largely contributed to the handloom trade along with the weavers of Venkatagiri , Kaalahasthi , Chirala , Machilupatnam and Mangalagiri but slowly lost their identity to the bigger names of handlooms in Andhra .
In the recent past with the help of design interventions from talented designers like Meraki By Sindhu the weavers have adapted to the contemporary fashion market apart from their traditional designs .
Sizes: The choli comes in standard ready to wear sizes 34 to 48 with a 2 inch margin inside for alterations.
